“I and me are ONE.” A Twin Project:  An exploration of the unity of oneness in twins.

These artworks explore my fascination with twins in the West African Universe. Once upon a time, as Achebe narrates in his classic, Things Fall Apart, twins born among the Igbos were left to die in the evil forest. They were seen as the representation of evil.

In recent times, however, it will be unthinkable to see twins as a representation of evil.

As part of my art exploration, I want us to imagine twins as Oneness: That is, beings that are one and have never been separated.

But one may also ask: “Why is oneness important?” Twins as Oneness becomes that metaphor suggesting that “by …  embracing our interconnectedness, we [as humans] embark on a journey that leads to personal growth and contributes to a more harmonious world.”

Perhaps, the phrase “I and me are ONE” captures the artistic vision that informs this body of work.
